State Senators of New York & New Jersey: Pay Attention

We're at a time, in the biggest civil rights struggle of our generation (equality for LGBTs), when things are tipping ever so slowly in our favor. Our community has come so far in such a short period of time, as gay marriage has became legal in five states. So it's frustrating when the train begins to slow down or backtrack (as in California and Maine).

It almost seemed inevitable that marriage equality would easily find its way to two of the most liberal states in our union, New York and New Jersey; after all, the governors of those states have pledged very clearly that each would sign a marriage equality bill if one would cross his desk. For one reason or another, all politically motivated, each respective states' legislative bodies are holding up the process.

Just when the New York State Senate was finally strong-armed into promising a vote on gay marriage by year's end (without much hope of passing), some New Jersey Democrats are now showing signs of reversing support on the issue in their state. Even with the majority of residents in New Jersey supporting gay marriage (one of the highest percentages in the country), New Jersey senators are now hesitant because of the latest gubernatorial election results favoring the conservative candidate, Republican Chris Christie.

The New Jersey senators have become afraid of being the target of Christie's conservative base, and in effect, are afraid of losing their jobs. Sometimes however, life issues transcend personal fears and this issue is one of them. Passing equal rights legislation is the right thing to do, regardless of personal fears or religious beliefs. We are all Americans and deserve equal treatment and protection under the law. Senators, be on the right side of history, take a stand and do the right thing. At the end of your lives, you'll be able to look back and know that you made the right decision.

How To Perform a Striptease

Drive the man in your life wild with a striptease he’ll never forget.

You Will Need

A sexy, easy-to-remove outfit
Stilettos
Stockings with garters
Sexy music or try our strip tease deluxe with CD & accessories
Flattering lighting
A straight-backed chair
Liquor

Step 1: Choose an outfit from sexy lingerie to sexy dress up costumes

Choose an outfit. It can be anything from a conservative business suit to a sexy French maid costume — the important thing is that each article can be removed with a minimum of fuss.

Make sure that no item is tight enough to create bulges or leave marks on your skin.

Step 2: Snag stilettos

Pick shoes that will make the most of your legs, meaning something with a high, skinny heel — the higher and skinnier the better.

Step 3: Put on stockings

Put on some silky stockings with garters. Go with classic fishnets, or get a pair with a racy seam up the back.

Step 4: Set the music

Get your music ready so you don’t run out of tunes in the middle of your performance. Make a sultry mix or playlist, so you know what’s coming up.

Step 5: Set the mood

Use a light dimmer and/or candles to create flattering lighting, and put a straight-backed chair in the middle of the room.

If necessary, take a swig of something before you begin to calm your nerves and lower your inhibitions, but don’t get drunk — no one likes a sloppy striptease.

Step 6: Walk the walk

Begin your striptease by striding into the room like a professional catwalker, one foot directly in front of the other, shoulders back, head raised high.

Step 7: Begin to strip

Turn your back on your man and slide your jacket or top off your shoulders. Turn back around and toss it aside.

Maintain eye contact throughout your act.

Step 8: Tease

Put your hands behind your head and gyrate a bit before moving on to the skirt. Turn your back to him, grab the sides of your skirt, lean slightly forward, and slowly tug your skirt down as you wiggle your hips. When the skirt reaches the floor, kick it aside.

Step 9: Lose the garters

Move around some more, running your hands along your body, before kicking off a shoe and throwing that leg on top of the chair. Undo the garter and slowly begin to unfold the stocking until it’s off. Repeat with the other stocking, then step back into stilettos.

Step 10: Take off the bra

Push your bra straps off your shoulder, unhook your bra, slip it off, and fling it at him. Then languidly caress your breasts.

Step 11: Slip off panties

Time for the finale! Turn your back on him, slip your hands, palms down, into the sides of your panties, bend forward, and slowly push them down, keeping your legs as straight as you can. When they reach your ankles, step out of them.

Step 12: Prepare

Prepare to be ravaged by your very turned-on lover!

The Tale of Two Marriages

In this great country of ours, known as The United States of America, there are two different types of marriages: one is sanctioned by religious organizations and the other is sanctioned by the government. These institutions are really two completely different things, but due to semantics, the two are very often confused; and, because of this ambiguity, there is much controversy over same-sex marriage.

The meaning of the word "marriage" has evolved over time. Once marriage was merely a contract in which a family basically sold their daughter to a man, through the exchange of a dowry paid to his family. Over time, in the medieval era, marriage came to signify romance between two people. During the ninth century, the church began blessing unions. In the 1500s, marriage served as a way to save men and women from being "sinful" and as a way to promote procreation. Religious institutions have since been joining heterosexual couples together by the sacrament of marriage.

The early European and American governments were once very intertwined in religious marriage but have since also drastically evolved this union into what is known as secular marriage, or civil marriage. The U.S. government currently sanctions marriage but not in its religious sense of the word. Here in lies the confusion. Our government has chosen to continue using the same word to refer to a similar union but with a different meaning and set of rules. The US government's role in marriage, today, brings with it a set of legal protections and responsibilities that US citizens have come to depend on.

These modern day legal protections include, but are not limited to, inheritance of property upon death, hospital visitation on one's death-bed, life or death medical decisions, funeral arrangements, filing joint taxes, health insurance, and adoption of spouses' children. Married couples also become legally responsible for each other; an example would be financial accountability for the spouse's financial decisions and actions. Other responsibility includes being able to make medical decisions for one's spouse during his/her incapacitation.

These are the things civil marriage brings to the table for any married couple, except for the same-sex couples denied the protection of marriage rights, by their very own government in 45 of the 50 United States. Even these legal same-sex marriages in five states do not entitle these couples to all of the benefits of civil marriage. The Defense of Marriage Act, DOMA, prohibits the Federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages, thus prohibiting same-sex couples from filing joint federal income tax returns, as well as a host of other things.

As a straight person, can one imagine what it would be like if upon your spouse's death you were told by your in-laws that you'll have to sell your own home because the family wants their share? This is exactly what happens to gay couples, no matter how long they've been together or how in love or committed they've been. I've had people suggest that in the absence of marriage a gay couple could draw up private legal documents to enact one's own legal protection in these matters. But this is a very flawed compromise. You see these legal documents are challenged in courts of law every day and the gay partner, more times than not, will lose. Inevitably, the gay widow or widower will be forced out of his/her lifelong home, even after single-handedly paying the mortgage. This is a legal injustice.

The big concern for me is having my government protect me as a United States citizen. I am entitled to that as an American, as a gay American; but none-the-less, my interests are not protected. This is wrong. Someone else's personal religious beliefs should not infringe on my rights as an American, but they do. As an LGBT American I need my government to legally protect me just as it protects my straight neighbors. This is what I need from what my government refers to as "marriage".

Mr. Right . . . Now?

Is is too much to ask for a decent guy to just fall from the sky, be willing to relocate in about two years and be totally and committed to me. To see beyond the layers (and layers, and layers) of the outside shell and fall in love with the person that I truly am? The mess that tends to drive so many (okay, that's an exaggeration) away, the comforting friend, the loyal companion, the person who is more content with indie movies and delivery pizza than bar crawling? Is it too much to ask that I meet a guy who doesn't either want (a) sex or (b) someone thinner? And why is it, that when I find this guy, or a guy like this guy, he isn't what I'm looking for. He isn't in th epackage that I expected him to be delivered in. He is simply . . . Dishwater.
Maybe I judge too harshly when it comes to Dishwater, but . . . he's not college educated, he has financial problems and identity issues. There is too much of a mess to love in the first place. . . or is there? Am I simply judging a book by its (tattered) cover, or is it possible that the cover-stains are merely indicators of what is beyond the depths of a seemingly promising novel? Opposites attract, but I need someone who is more stable all around, someone who has a future, someone who is aggressive, and spiritually thirsty and questioning--not someone who is fulfilled by the answers of society, someone who has no problem with shifting scripture to make some kind of grand epiphany. I need someone who can look past the scripture, realize the historical and societal contexts, and even walk away if it is time for that, and find a way to grow, either back towards his former religion, or to a new one. I can't settle for Dishwater when I deserve only the best. One man's tap water is another man's sparkling oasis. He is a great guy, but he isn't the guy for me. And it is possible that I won't meet the guy for me while I live in Arkansas, or while I live at all, it is a sad fact that sometimes, love is just not meant to be found. And when it comes to that kind of harsh reality, you simply have to accept it, and find something else to fill the void.
I'm not a sex-driven person, but I could easily learn their ways, but that is not my desire. An eye opening experience, even if painful, is still a good experience. (Of course, how true that is depends on who you ask. Is this a relative truth of life? That having the experience better than walking around a novice? The questions are seemingly endless, but the only one that matters is "Is the risk worth the possible reward?" --but the only time that you will reap any kind of reward is when you are in love with someone, right? Or is that simply a noble ideal that I have tricked myself into believing?)
If I'm not willing to settle for dishwater, and if I'm also not willing to settle for sex--base, animalistic grinding--then I guess the question is, what am I really looking for? Love has been offered, and denied. Sex, has been offered and denied. But this all came about from the trial and errors of young love and the pain that came from giving my emotions too freely to those who did not deserve them. I still look back and wonder what has happened to those who I cared about, those who lusted after me, those who I consented to, even on a purely emotional basis, a part of me is with them, hopefully, I will one day go (and grow) somewhere where I can forget their names, forget their faces, forget the bad investments that I made with my heart. I don't long for them, but I still miss them in a different way, in a "I don't miss you, but I miss what you represented," kind of way. I miss being "in love" and being "adored" and adoring someone, and being there, emotionally at least, for someone who, in theory, was there for me emotionally. Its crazy how these things play out. If it wasn't for Mike, Kyle, or David, I would have never known how to be emotionally strong. I would still give my all to the undeserving. I would have given my all to Jordan or Matt, and it would have been a truly horrifying experience. I gave my all to John, and he didn't care, he didn't want me at all and yet, I always went back for more. It was like some kind of disease, it died down just to rise back up again, because I felt like I was connected to him.
I have never been the kindof person that has been able to seperate physical intimacy from emotional intimacy, but maybe it is time that I started, only in preparation for the other boys who will try and break my heart.

Stargate Universe: Life

The latest episode of Universe was another excellent adventure into the psyche of the people stranded on the Destiny. Of especial interest is we finally see Camile Wray go and visit her wife using the communication stones, this is the one time I have to complain about this series, when it's a heterosexual couple they have no problem showing the couple in the bedroom, but the lesbians don't get a love scene. Now I myself actually prefer not seeing the love scenes of the any of the couples my complaint is that the lesbians are treated differently than the breeders. It's time to grow up and show equality to the lesbians and gays on tv.

okay now that I've finished my tirade I will say I like the departure in style of Universe from the previous shows in the Stargate franchise. So far there are no big bad guys every week (can you say G'ould and Wraith?) it's just how a group of people thrust into another galaxy with no warning, no way home, and almost no supplies cope with this and the fact that they have no control over their ship, where their going, and the people back on earth are willing to gamble with all there lives on any chance to get them home, with disastrous results.

So if you haven't watched Universe yet, tune in and watch this wonderful show, you'll get hooked.
